These are detailed, full size plans of guitars by famous makers. Each plan is accurately drawn, and is based on a careful examination of the instrument concerned. They include all information needed to build a reproduction. Scale lengths are all 650 mm unless otherwise stated.
Each plan is printed on three separate sheets of A2 paper (600 mm x 450 mm) :
Sheet One : Construction Notes, Rosette design, Bridge, Head, Neck Joint Sheet Two :
Soundboard and Strutting Sheet Three : Neck, Fingerboard, Section through Body Antonio de Torres (short scale length: 604 mm) - Plan for a Small Guitar Torres is rightly seen as the founder of the modern Spanish classical guitar, and many experienced luthiers today still continue to make their guitars closely following the designs established by Torres in about 1860. Having made a guitar according to the larger dimensions of the Torres Plan Number 1, many guitar makers find it interesting to build a small guitar, in contrast to a full-size guitar. This is an interesting design to follow - the small guitar has a surprisingly vibrant and penetrating sound, especially in the treble range. The smaller volume of air contained inside the soundbox means that the bass range is less full, but provided a well-balanced instrument is constructed, the result is usually very pleasing.
